In light of advice distributed by the UK Government and Public Health England (PHE) regarding COVID-19, our dental practice will be implementing certain specific measures. We should be grateful if all patients could read the following advice when attending the dental practice for treatment:How do you decide who gets an appointment
The practice has been keeping track of all cancelled/delayed appointments. When re-booking these appointments, these are our main considerations:
• Immediate pain or treatment urgency
• Required treatment, since different procedures require different precautions for the surgery regarding protective equipment and surgery decontamination after each appointment
• Duration since last scheduled appointment (i.e. those cancelled in March will be booked first, moving forward to those cancelled in July)
Should I call the practice, or will you call me
If you are suffering from immediate pain, or your treatment is time-sensitive, please contact the practice.
We are working through our list (over 500 appointments) to contact patients. The reality is that we are still in the re-opening phase. At this time, we are not running anywhere near full capacity and have buffered additional time between appointments and to ensure our team has enough time to deep clean the surgery. Rather than re-schedule you for potentially months away, we are choosing to wait and see what capacity we are getting up to once we have passed this re-opening phase and we are back confident with our capacity and number of appointments per day.
For rebooking canceled, routine dental treatment - we will be in contact with you. A member of the team will reach out to find a suitable time. We may also send an invitation to re-book your appointment via email through an online booking link.If you have symptoms or believe you might have contracted Coronavirus
You must contact us (details below) if you believe you may have contracted Coronavirus, whether you have symptoms or not, or whether you believe you may have recovered or not.
If our staff believe you may have contracted Coronavirus and are displaying symptoms at the time of your appointment, they will refuse you treatment and ask you to return home and reschedule your appointment. Social distancing measures
On advice from PHE, we shall no longer be operating our waiting room facility in the usual way. This means that patients will be asked to arrive during specific ‘time windows’ to avoid unnecessary interaction between patients attending the practice. When should I arrive for my appointment
We appreciate that many of our patients like to arrive early for appointments. Still, it is imperative for the foreseeable future that patients make every effort to arrive at the practice within their allocated time window. Please do not arrive at the practice more than five minutes before your allotted appointment time. If you arrive early, we ask that you either call/text the practice to ask if it is okay to enter early, or to wait outside, preferably in your car where possible.
If any patient becomes unable to arrive during their allocated time window, they should call the practice ahead and must not simply show up to the practice late. We will do everything possible to accommodate anyone running late unexpectedly.Can I bring friends or family to my appointment
Patients are asked to limit extra companions on their visit to only essential people in order to reduce the number of people within the practice.
If your family or friends are with you at the time of your appointment we ask that they wait in the car or outside of the practice. Additional hygiene requirements - Patients
Patients are required to use hand sanitiser from the dispenser located outside of the practice (clearly visible). This should be used before entering the practice and patients may use it after they have left the practice.
Specific advice has been given to any patient undergoing alignment treatment in order to ensure safe removal and replacement of aligners. With the utmost consideration for patient safety, we have implemented particular techniques in addition to our already rigorous hygiene and sterilisation regiment at the practice. These include thorough decontamination of the surgery and surrounding spaces between patients.
As you will understand, these additional processes take time. Coupled with the social distancing measures set out above, this will limit the capacity of the practice and reduce the number and frequency of patients. We would again emphasise the importance of your arrival within the specified time window so that we may carry out these additional precautions.How to contact the practice
